Product Development
Nelstrops recognises product development to be of paramount importance to the
company's continuing success. Even in a traditional industry such as milling,
new products are constantly emerging as foreign travel encourages the British
palate to become more eclectic. As an innovative company we have led the way in
these new developments. We may, for instance, assist a family baker to make a
successful ciabatta or develop a special flour which enables the giant bakery
to achieve consistent, problem-free results.
The Pizza Lily flour is an excellent example of our ability to adapt to new
markets, in this case a market led by the pizza boom. Yet another example is
the development of high-specification wholemeal and organic flours in response
to the growing interest in healthy eating. To help us anticipate the qualities
required in new flours our bakers constantly try out new ideas at our test
bakery, in close co-operation with our customers.
