Celebrating World Flour Day 2026

Celebrating World Flour Day 2026

Every year on 20 March, flour millers, bakers, and food lovers around the globe come together to celebrate World Flour Day. And for us at Nelstrops, with seven generations of milling history, it’s a day that speaks to the very soul of our craft.

The date itself is full of symbolism. 20 March marks the beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere and the start of harvest season in the southern hemisphere. It represents beginnings, change, and abundance—three qualities that perfectly capture the story of flour and its role in feeding the world.

Wherever you go globally, flour sits at the heart of daily life. It’s in the hands of bakers before dawn, in the homes of families gathering around shared meals, and in the traditions that shape communities and cultures.

Whether it’s chapatis, pasta, baguettes, pitta, cakes, pies, scones, biscuits, puddings, or bread, they all need flour—and all rely on the year‑round hard work of farmers, millers, and bakers keeping communities nourished.

World Flour Day gives us time to appreciate not only this vital ingredient but also the people who make it possible.

For us at Nelstrops, it’s a proud reminder that heritage and innovation can go hand in hand. Seven generations in, we remain committed to producing flour that supports British agriculture, British jobs, and the foods that bring us together.

So, whether you’re dusting off your mixing bowl for some baking, preparing hot cross buns ahead of Easter, or simply enjoying your morning toast, today you’re part of a global celebration.

Flour links continents, cultures, and communities—but it also links generations, just as it has in our family mill for more than 200 years.

From all of us at Nelstrops, happy World Flour Day 2026.
Here’s to good harvests, good bread, and new beginnings.
