With the ovens warm and the scent of fresh bread filling the air, we join bakers across the globe in celebrating World Baking Day on May 18th, 2025. But the day is not just about baking—it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and collaboration. It’s a chance to recognize the partnerships that rise, like dough, through mutual support and shared values.
At the heart of this story is Pure Kitchen, the vibrant, inclusive bakery that not only crafts delicious goods but also provides life-changing opportunities for the individuals. Nelstrop Flour Millers are proud to be a supplier to Pure Kitchen and provide technical support with their baking development; Pure Kitchen continues to grow in skill, spirit, and community impact.
Pure Kitchen founded as part of Pure Innovations’ mission to empower people with disabilities and support needs, is a working bakery with a heart. Every loaf, bun, and biscuit is made with care—not only by professional bakers but also by individuals developing their skills and confidence through real-life experience.
In 2022, Pure Kitchen’s commitment was nationally recognised when it won the National Learning Disability Award for Employer of People with a Disability. This accolade affirmed that with the right support, everyone has something amazing to contribute.
Nelstrop Flour Millers, a family-owned business with over 200 years of milling expertise and an unwavering dedication to the community has for years been a part of this journey.
Pure Studio, another of the social enterprises within Pure Innovations, created bespoke artwork for Nelstrops mill back in 2018. The project sparked not only beautiful artwork but also a relationship rooted in mutual respect and shared values.
Since the beginning, Nelstrops have proudly supported Pure Kitchen with top-quality flour and unwavering belief in their mission. So as we celebrate World Baking Day 2025, we’re reminded that baking is about bringing people together—from the shared joy of warm scones to the bonds between businesses and communities.
Happy World Baking Day!
